Photo Manipulation and Ethics

Ethics in the Age of Digital Manipulation

A. This story is to show and tell us that some photo manipulations could lie to the public and corrupt the minds of the viewers. Some photos you shouldn't lie about or it could cause huge controversy. Changing photos could be very dangerous to not only you, because you could get fired: you can also endanger the public because controversy like riots or terror threats could emerge.

B. This kind of manipulation to photos would be unethical in a sense that wouldn't be morally right to corrupt society like that.

A.This photo to me is the most unethical of photos. This not only lies about his skin tone but changes his identity.

B. This photo to me is the least unethical, because it helps them look happier and maybe even feel happier.

National Geographic

This is my favorite Picture from the National Geographic website, because it gives me a feeling of mystery. But it is also very beautiful in a sense of danger. I also love mountains and nature so looking at this photo really gives me pleasure because of that.

If you were to see my world than I would show you pictures nature in Washington State, because I will be living there soon and I love natural images. The photos you will see are my pictures from a trip I recently made.

Touching People

1. What do you think about this project and photo essay?
I think this project was very interesting because it shows different artistry in photography not only can the models come up with ideas but the photographer can too.

2. What would you do if someone approached you with a camera and asked you to participate in a photo shoot and then asked you to touch a stranger?
I would ask what is was for and what I had to do before I totally agreed to take the photo(s).

3. Think of an unusual photo shoot similar to this one that you think would be fun to go and shoot.
   People's hands.
4. Finally, tell me what you thought of the photography, are the photos good? Do you like looking at them?
Some of them are interesting to look at but the others are not very good.

40 Greatest Photos Taken

Australian Scott Jones kisses his Canadian girlfriend Alex Thomas after she was knocked to the ground by a police officer's riot shield in Vancouver, British Columbia. Canadians rioted after the Vancouver Canucks lost the Stanley Cup to the Boston Bruins.
I picked this photo because a kiss during a riot is so significant and sweat to me. It ensures the girl that everything is alright. This photo made it to the top 40 because it is reassuring to everyone that in a time scarcity everything will be ok.

A firefighter gives water to a koala during the devastating Black Saturday Bushfires that burned across Victoria, Australia, in 2009.
I chose this photo because it shows how people aren't our only worry in this world. We have to worry for our wildlife and take care of them. This photo is in the top 40 because it tells people to care for other species on this planet.

The iconic photo of Tank Man, the unknown rebel who stood in front of a column of Chinese tanks in an act of defiance following the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989.
This photo is one of my favorites because this one man means everything to the Tiananmen protest but one man doesn't mean anything in war. This made it to the top 40 because of the power of symbolism in a photo.
